HISTORY OF THE HOTEL

Hotel Purkmistr is located in close proximity to the world-famous Archbishop's Castle in Kroměříž, which became famous among other things as a backdrop for the film Amadeus by director Miloš Forman. You will be tempted to take a stroll in the adjacent Podzámecká Garden, a real historical gem, where you can spend hours discovering its beauty. Another important monument is the Flower Garden with its perfectly manicured flower beds, picturesque colonnade, rotunda and two greenhouses - tropical and cold - which are open all year round.

Kroměříž also offers other opportunities for walks. To the north you can walk along the Morava River and to the east visit the open-air museum in Rymice, Tlumačovské rybníky or the historic windmill.

The history of the house, which now houses the Purkmistr Hotel, dates back to the first half of the 15th century. However, due to the damage to the town archives during the Thirty Years' War, we only have surviving records from 1612. Among the most important owners was Jan Adam Lontano, who significantly rebuilt the house and later became the town's mayor. It was after this historical figure that the hotel got its name. Over the years, many owners changed until 1948, when the town of Kroměříž became the owner.
